Thanks to Artoro who goes there every year, he made our day absolutely beyond belief and relaxing. Tim and his family are all awwesome. Jackie, you are one fantastic cook. We did not stay stay the night but would love to do so in the future. We did not know a place like this even existed. Heaven on earth.
Again, thanks for your hospitality for the day to all that were there.

maincomment : The place to go to escape from urban life and become enthralled with a clean, relaxing paradise.
suggestions : A Tubagua Guide of the area would be nice for future visits. It can point out (really briefly) where the motos go (also how much to pay because I know I had to really bargain to get a fair rate), what to do in certain cities, what to do nearby, which stores to shop at nearby, etc.

This place is a sanctuary- you are on top of the mountain, surounded by an astonishing view, the food is decadent and fresh/organic, the housing is beautiful and romantic….Tim and his staff are very welcoming and helpful. From hikes to waterfalls or wanting to go horseback riding , Tim will arrange it for you and all for a very affordable price. We loved it so much there ,we got married at Tubagua in April.I think that says it all- it’s magical.

Tubagua EcoLodge was a welcome escape from the more touristy all inclusive hotel options of the island. It offers a refuge, a sanctuary, peace, a place for conversation and connection. The view is spectacular, the surroundings lush and rustic. The food is great and it’s simply special. A unique and so far undiscovered treasure. In close enough proximity to the beaches and POP airport. Definitely worth the trip! jmc, Washington, DC

If you could say it all in one sentence, what would you say? : From the minute we arrived, Tim was fantastic, hysterical and a wonderful host. and Tubagua was breathtaking.
suggestions : Website doesn’t do justice to how special this place really is.

I must admit that before we knew what we would be missing, my friends and I almost skipped out on our reservation in pursuit of accommodations more central to Puerta Plata. I hate to think of what we would have missed had we not changed our minds. Staying at TPV is the most special experience you could possibly have when visiting the Dominican Republic. The setting is beautifully rustic with a breathtaking vista that is a worthy way to spend one’s time in and of itself. Guests of TPV stay in cabin/tent hybrids made of local materials. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Showers, sinks and bathrooms are separate much like you would find at summer camp (but much nicer). One bath house allows you to gaze out towards the amazing Dominican country side and coast as you use any of these facilities.

The owner, Tim Hall is an exceptional man whose unique and generous spirit warms a room. He has filled TPV with an eccentric and hospitable character and his prices are beyond reasonable. The fact that he is Canadian was a boon to us because he knew the types of excursions that would accent our trip perfectly. We took all of his suggestions and had the time of our lives.

If you want an authentic experience in the Dominican Republic that will stand out and make your smile every time you reminisce, book a room at the Tubagua Plantation Village right away and I promise you will never regret it.

If I could I would live here. This is by far the best place I have ever stayed at on vacation and Tim really does go WAY out of his way to make the stay even more enjoyable. The homemade breakfast and dinners were also delicious (especially the beans and rice:) ) Thank you for everything Tim!!!! I will be returning someday… Julie Donohue

Tubagua was our first stop on our first visit to the DR. Tim was the best of hosts and really generous with info for the rest of our stay, Jacqueline was a sweet and wonderful host and cook, and David one of the team there also generously took us on a beautiful hike to the waterfalls, and helped set up a guide for a hi…ke the following day. It was the most idyllic of spots with mules in the field, frogs in the bathroom, cats lazing on the stones.

  10. Dawn Beck says:

I would heartily recommend Tubagua to any single female or male traveller who is looking for cultural immersion as well as safety, security and tranquility…

On behalf of Girl Guides of Canada and the Ontario Patrol, thank-you for your hospitality! You have made us all so very welcome… you have a little piece of heaven.

We did a 3 day Motivational event, for Staff who work in the Tourist Industry, (Sail boat captains, Dive Instructors) Because of their nature of their work , they are a demanding hard crowd to please…

They were all ecstatic with the natural setting and the personalized attention they got, and made us promise that we would bring them back next year.

Thanks Tim for taking such good care of our team.

    We highly recommend Tubagua Plantation!

I went to DR with a small film crew to shoot a part of a feature film. It was decided with very little notice. Tim Hall who runs the Tubagua Plantation Village was able to arrange for everything we asked for, not only lodging but just as well locations, transportation, catering and even some cast members. He made us right away feel confident in terms of our work just as well as making us feel welcomed and well at his retreat. The retreat itself is worth visiting simply because of the beautiful setting, excellent food and comfortable lodging, it is worth a visit, it is simply fantastic. Tim’s vast knowledge of the DR’s infra structure as well as connections is very valuable when doing work like we were doing.

  14. 4T manages educational, adventure & community service programs throughout the DR for groups of 6 to 500. TPV is conveniently located near the POP airport but FEELS like it is a million miles away from city life. Lush vegetation, amazing views, rustic-yet-comfortable accommodations, delicious bbq, reliable staff and dependable management have made this property a staff favorite for introducing student and young adult groups to the DR. TPV is an authentic experience. All this AND we can get a 28-passenger bus with trailer within 50 meters of guest rooms!

  15. Mike Armitage says:

Hey Tim! I have been mentioning the place to people. You might want to add a section that bills the place a retreat for writers. A few producers I know always need a cheap 2-week getaway that is quiet with internet to get some writing done… and they have expressed interest in visiting… just a thought.

  16. Brenna Leveille says:

I love staying here and can’t wait to get back. It was incredible.

  17. jailred says:

This was a wonderful experience. The views are breathtaking and the people make you feel like family. You can’t find a better way to really feel the DR than to sit in the kitchen with dinner cooking on the grill and chat with the locals. I loved it and am sending my friends.

  18. Guillermo says:

It’s a beautiful place with amazing views. You get to breathe fresh air and at night you can feel the calmness of the nature. I was there only for a night and I got just what I needed: a cheap place to spend the night. It’s not right in the city of Puerto Plata, you’ll need a vehicle to move around and you want to be careful driving that road at night. My room was comfortable and the whole place is very nice and clean. Dont forget your insect repellent. ITS DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP UP THERE.

  19. Arthur says:

Tubagua has become one of my favorite hideaways on the North Coast since its inception, and I can’t wait to see what the next logical steps are in bringing the Dominican Republic and all its charms to the intepid (or not so intrepid) traveller. After all, real travel is what so many people want, yet so few people find the means to experience the beauty, the people, and the true hospitality of the Dominican Republic. I sense magical, tropical doors opening…all courtesy of some very progressivly thinking folks who know their way around. By all means…Do it !
